Apart from achieving her singing diploma, Cornelia Helfricht studied violoncello and piano at the Conservatory of Augsburg. The mezzo-soprano, winner of the International Contest for Coloratura-singing, SYLVIA GESZTY in Stuttgart, started her professional career as a member of the studio at the Bavarian State Opera Munich. Further engagements brought her to the Mainz State Theatre and later to the Vienna State Opera, with which she made a tour to Japan. By this time, the young artist could be seen regularly at the MOZART FESTIVAL in the Schönbrunn Castle.
The German mezzo-soprano performs with renowned orchestras such as the State Philharmonic Orchestra Brno, the Bavarian Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra, the Saarbrücken Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra, the Basle Symphony Orchestra, the MDR-Symphony Orchestra (with Fabio Luisi), the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra, and many others.
In the seasons 2005-2007 Cornelia Helfricht sings VENUS, BRANGÄNE, MARGUÉRITE ( La damnation de Faust), DIDON and CARMEN at the Opera House Leipzig . Moreover, she will be MAGDALENA in the new prodution Die Meistersinger at the Opera House Geneva.
